Home Safety Assessments
14/03/2011
Evan Morris - Head of Community Safety at Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service made a statement last week with regards to the number of Home Safety Assessments carried out since 2002.
"It is a great pleasure to announce that this afternoon we have passed the 60,000 Home Safety Assessment (HSA) target. Congratulations should go to all operational crews and advocates for this fantastic achievement.
As we stand since 2002 we have delivered to over 300,000 properties, that’s 65% of all households in Cheshire having received an HSA.
This has resulted in a 41% reduction in Accidental Dwelling Fires and 70% reduction in injuries sustained in fires.
In addition through working with the Health Service, Social Care, Age UK and Deafness Support Network, you have generated additional support and improved older and vulnerable people’s health, safety and wellbeing.
This achievement should not be underestimated and has only been possible because of service personnel’s determination and drive.
Many thanks for your tremendous effort and continued support to make Cheshire Safer."
